Dear reader,
This letter is a little less fashion and little more function, as that’s where I find myself this week.
I’m at that point in the winter where I’m exceptionally pale and the same few things I put on are starting to lose their charm. My brain is meandering towards spring fashion but my body is firmly planted in ski clothes. It’s midwinter and function just feels nice right now. I’m finding that if I already only have the energy for leggings and a puffy jacket, then if I choose to put an ounce more effort into the styling and maybe add an *intentional* accessory, my day truly has a more positive trajectory.
I think there’s a misconception around styling and dressing well that it has to be a lot of effort or is less comfortable than something you’d toss on without thought. When seeking out the soft comfy stuff, maybe it can have more qualities than just comfortable. I try and change out of my sleepy time togs and pop on some equally cozy sweatpants that also have a nice shape. Or a fun color. Maybe those also feel cute outside of the house and therefore I’m more productive. Hadley’s piece on layering a big wool coat on top of comfy clothes or gym wear is such a great mountain town hack. Dressing well is not reserved only for extravagant outfits and fancy pieces- it can be in your comfiest clothes, and most casual settings. It can be pajamas!
Here’s what I’m wearing today to get myself to be more productive while basically wearing an iteration what I wore to bed, plus a jacket.
